Placing skilled workers in renewables and solar farm jobs

The construction of wind and solar farms requires numerous trades, skilled and unskilled labour, with varying skill sets, experience and qualifications, to work on a range of tasks from the initial earthworks through construction to the final grid connection and then O&M.

Haynes have provided skilled and unskilled labourers, operators, and trade-qualified staff through to site project managers as well as specifically skilled personnel to solar and wind farm projects in Chinchilla, Dubbo, New England, Wellington, Port Augusta, and Goyder to name a few. We are able to fill large amounts of vacancies in a short amount of time thanks to thirty years of building networks with a variety of skills and experiences.

Recent builds in Queensland

Queensland has 11 large-scale solar projects currently in the works, with its largest capping off at a huge 1,500MW.

The state has been rapidly expanding its renewable energy sector over the past decade, with a growing number of large-scale solar farms and other renewable energy projects underway. In 2018, Queensland was home to more than 800MW of large-scale solar capacity, making it the leading Australian state in terms of solar power.

Recent builds in New South Wales

There are 16 major operating large-scale solar farms in New South Wales.

The New South Wales government has been supportive of renewable energy projects and initiatives, providing a range of subsidies for the installation of solar panels. This has enabled many homeowners to take advantage of the opportunities offered by solar power, reducing their electricity bills and increasing the amount of clean energy available.

Columboola Solar Farm

Haynes was approached to recruit and mobilise a workforce for a 162 MW solar farm near Chinchilla. Due to the remote location, Haynes recruited migrant workers through their extensive database and advertising on various job platforms. They also assisted with visa clearances and mobilised workers faster. Haynes provided a flexible workforce and recruited for mechanical and electrical stages of the project. They maintained communication with workers during delays caused by rain and the COVID-19 pandemic.
